- The Best of Many Genres
- Altsounds.com writes: "Call It The Truth makes it easy for anyone to listen to their music. They have combined the best of many genres into a genre of their own. Upon viewing some of their live shows on the internet, it is evident they carry the same exact charm as their recordings do in person. That is always comforting to know that what you hear is what you get. Call It The Truth is on their way to make something big." [Read More...]
- It's Finally Here: "Fight For Your Life" EP - Official Release
Call It The Truth’s debut EP “Fight For Your Life” is now available for free download.
How did this momentous event come to be? Nate and Fhiwa met by pure chance at an airport in the Midwest. Only fate could plant such a seed, a seed that would bear the fruit of music unlike anything created before it.
Upon arriving at Bowdoin last September, the pair attended a coffeehouse where they witnessed Mikel melting young ladies’ hearts with his original songs. The three agreed to join forces right then and there.
As they prepared to jam for the first time, they heard a faint voice in the distance. The voice was soothing yet piercing, sweet yet bitter, angelic yet devilish, and above all heart wrenching. They followed the source of these sounds and found the final piece of the puzzle: Justin.
In the months that followed, the group composed a suite of five songs that document an emotional journey through a crumbling relationship.

After showcasing their talent at Jack McGee’s, the college’s on-campus pub, Call It The Truth soon found themselves becoming Bowdoin’s most-requested musical group, performing nearly a dozen times throughout the year.
With the help of expert engineer Chris Watkinson, the band recorded ”Fight For Your Life” EP in the gorgeous Studzinski Hall. For the first time, the rest of the world will feast its ears on Bowdoin’s best-kept secret.

- Coloring Outside the Lines
- Boston Band Crush wrote: "An energetic and slightly jumpy guitar line opens up the appropriately-titled 'Pick Me Up,' and it is a sound that ushers in the general and mildly frenetic feel of the song. The sound of the guitar is that which carries this entire track. Each of the other elements sort of hitch a ride on the strong and rhythmically hooky guitar line.
Even the 1-2 hits of the pre-chorus/chorus follow the lead of the guitar, as well as the bridge, which sort of sliiiiides down a slippery downward-turned arpeggio on - you guess it - the guitar. The vocal declares its own independence with its willingness to stretch outside the lines of the tightly-wound rhythm section. This coloring-outside-the-lines seems very deliberate and works out nicely in the context of the track.
There can be no denying that 'Pick Me Up' delivers almost precisely what it promises in a shiny, rhythm-heavy package. The tempo has a certain attention-getting snap! to it that is both enervating and slightly hypnotic and temporally disorienting. When the song ends, you won't be able to tell if it was 2 minutes long or 10. In a good way." [Read More...]

Dear Friends, Fans, and Music Enthusiasts across the Globe,
After seeing everyone’s enthusiastic responses to our first single “Pick Me Up,” we decided to prerelease a second song before the full EP comes out on August 17th. Nate and Fhiwa thought that “Should Have Been Me,” with its catchy reggae groove, was the natural choice of a track to release. But with their upperclassman wisdom, Justin and Mikel reasoned that the auspicious soundings of “My Heart Won’t Let Me” were the best pick.
Various methods were proposed for solving this dispute ranging from a rock-paper-scissors match to a bloody fight to the death, but in the end we resolved to let our friends decide which track should be released.
We posted short snippets of each track on the "music" page of our website. Vote by posting on the Facebook event wall.Whichever song receives the most votes will be released in its entirety for free download!
We need as many votes as possible, so please encourage your friends to vote by clicking “Invite People to Come” on the right side of this page. Thanks for your help,
Justin, Nate, Mikel, and Fhiwa

- EP Review: “Fight for Your Life”
- Band Over Boston wrote: "There’s a nice, funky swing and jazzy bed to this music, even when they’re laying into swooping rock choruses; the guitarist jives and the drummer fills against pulsing bass, giving the songs, even at their biggest, that danceability. Call It the Truth seems to be defining their own line between funk, sing-along jam, pop, and rock, and they’re at their most memorable when the whole band lands together on kicks that make you want to sing along with them."
- Truly Unique and Undeniably Catchy
- Chris Watkinson Sounds wrote: "Call It The Truth is a four-piece group that seems to take all the best parts of Jeff Buckley, Chili Peppers, and classic REM, and mix them with a more contemporary rock stylings. The blend is something truly unique and undeniably catchy, [and] the songs are well written and well executed by talented musicians... [The album] captures the energy of this great group."
